Cairo witnessed two forums on 20-2-2007 on the proposed constitutional amendments. The first forum was held by the Regional Union of The Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and the second was held by El-Nile Media Center in cooperation with the Municipal Council of Cairo. Some Members of the People's Assembly (PA) & Shura Council (SC)and concerned figures participated in the forums.

The opinions touched on various proposals. Some participants said that the new amendments are covenant between the State and the citizen targeting the present and the future of Egypt thus achieving partnership between the state and the people.

The amendments will open the door for several of political reforms achieve the equality principle in the duties and rights paying no heed to creed or religion. The amendments will attribute new competences to the PA and SC through the right of the confidence vote on the government. The speakers assured that the proposed amendments contribute to enhancing the roles of parties.
