Mubarak at Police day festival: Constitutional amendments open door for new terror legislation

President Mubarak said Wednesday 24/01/2007 that the proposed Constitutional amendments will open the door for drafting a new legislation that will tighten noose on terrorism and abort its schemes by the force of law.

President Mubarak underlined the importance of the current stage through which the national economy is passing.

"Fruits of our economic reforms should help fighting poverty and developing health, education, drinking water, drainage and social insurance services," he said.

"Policemen are bearing numerous burdens that require double efforts," he said citing work to complete the new electronic ID cards project, modernize eligible voters' lists, ensure safety of elections, fight crime and corruption, maintain order and discipline and protect installations at the various production and service sites. But I am confident that policemen are up to these responsibilities," Mubarak said.
