Chief of Judges Club confirms judges' keenness on saying their opinions about the constitutional amendments
Chancellor Zakaria Abdul-Aziz, Chief of the Judges Club ensured keenness of Egypt's judges to say their opinions about the intended constitutional amendments, as they shoulder burdens of the nation like other national powers in the country.
This came in the statement by Chancellor Abdul-Aziz during a seminar organized by the Judges Club yesterday evening 20/1/2007 under the title "Judgment and the Constitutional Amendments" that witnessed the presence of many professors of the Constitutional Law, Parliament members, writers and professors of political sciences.
Abdul-Aziz said that the Club will organize a series of specialized seminars to reach a suggestion that determines judges' vision towards these amendments.
Speakers verified their insistence on the Article 88 of the Constitution that regulates the full judicial supervision on elections to guarantee fair results.
Speakers pointed to the elections held in 2005 under the judicial supervision, considering it the fairest elections witnessed by Egypt since the Constitution of 1970 until now.
They asked all authorities to take orders and directives from the supervising judge during the electoral process.
Speakers also necessitated that constitutional amendments should designate the Court of Appeal only to have the power of judging the electoral contestation instead of the People's Assembly that now shares the Court of Appeal to judge true membership as well.
Importance of holding parliamentary elections on many stages was clarified by the speakers to keep the presence of a supervising judge for fair elections.
