Constitutional amendments boost political dialogue
Secretary of Professionalists at the National Democratic Party Dr. Muhammad Hassan el Hefnawi announced that President Mubarak and the NDP regard Egypt's interest as a top priority regardless of the limited partisan interests and are keen on building a better future. Hefnawi's meeting with the leaders and members of Agriculturalists Syndicate comes within the series of meetings which aim to discuss the political dimensions of the constitutional amendments.
Hefnawi declared that the role played by the professionalists' leaderships has extended to the Egyptian street by establishing secretariats everywhere to clarify the concepts, partisan and political visions in a simple language.
Dr. Hefnawi said Article 1 confirms the importance of the principle of citizenship given that all citizens are free to do whatever they like and exercise their rights plus abiding by their duties.
He added that constitutional amendments did not touch upon the political system in Egypt. This system will be developed by two ways:
First: The reinforcement of the cabinet authorities.
Second: Boosting the parliamentary role.
In addition, the judicial supervision over elections will be adjusted so as to allow for running the one-day elections. It is proposed to form an independent supreme committee to supervise the electoral process. This committee is supposed to include members of the present and former judicial bodies and does not join any members of the Executive.
