Shura Council Speaker: Constitutional amendments assures commitment to judiciary supervision on elections
Secretary-General of the National Democratic Party (NDP) Safwat el-Sherif declared that the constitutional amendments assure commitment to the judiciary supervision on the electoral process and election fairness.
He said that an expansion will be acted to configure the public electoral committees under the judiciary supervision on all the subsidiary committees.
This came through the start-up implementation plan of the NDP move to elucidate philosophy and dimensions of the constitutional amendments.
In his address to the secretariats of professionals' meeting chaired by Dr. Mohammed el-Hefnawi, el-Sherif said that such amendments are considered a fulfillment to what President Mubarak has committed to in his electoral program and a continuity to the democracy march.
Dr. Mohammed Kamal, member of the Secretariats of Professionals confirmed that the new electoral system will be studied to achieve a developed judiciary supervision. This will be active through a suggestion to constitute a supreme committee for elections that does not include any member of the executive authority. This supreme committee will include only the existing and previous members of the judiciary authority.
Dr. Mohammed el-Hefnawi, the Secretary of the Professionals confirmed that December 26, 2006 is considered a crowning date to the democracy move, as President Mubarak asked the amendment of 34 articles of the constitution.
Hefnawi pointed to expanded conferences allover the governorates that will be held to explain philosophy of the constitutional amendments.
Maged el-Sherbiny, Secretary of Membership in the NDP also confirmed that the constitutional amendments are a specific move in the Egyptian political life, clarifying that he will launch his plan to carry out organizing conferences to explain these amendments in the governorates.
