Hussein Mogawer, the chairman of Egypt's General Trade Unions Federation (EGTUF) paid tribute, in the name of millions of workers and their trade union's organizations, to the call launched by President Mubarak on amending some articles of the constitution.

He referred to Mubarak's confirmation that there would be no encroachment on the laborers and farmers' rights regarding the free education, health and social care of the impoverished brackets of the Egyptians.

He further added that a parliamentary labour committee has been formed from EGTUF leadership to study the constitutional amendments.
