"Recent constitutional reforms are an important step along the path of political and democratic reform," said Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif at a cabinet meeting on Monday2/4/2007.

Nazif underlined that these amendments covered a large areas of important shifts, including freedom of choosing the economic orientations of the state and confirming the principle of citizenship and trading all Egyptians on equal footing.

These constitutional reforms, added Nazif require other legislative reforms, including the law on practicing political rights and the issuance of an anti-terrorism law to end the emergency law.
