"The Information Ministry and the SIS were facilitating the job of Egyptian and foreign correspondents covering the referendum on the Constitutional amendments,"said Chairman of the State Information Service (SIS) Ayman Al-Qaffas on Monday 26/3/2007 at a joint press conference with the spokesman for the Higher Electoral Commission Usama Atawya.

Al-Qaffas further said only 10 complaints were lodged by reporters, noting that 375 foreign correspondents were covering the event.

For his part, Atawya said the voting process went on smoothly till the balloting stations closed their doors at 7pm.

Judges have supervised the voting in balloting stations, according to Atawya.

He added that the results would be announced at the end of the counting process.
