Presidential decree on a referendum over constitutional amendments

President Hosni Mubarak has issued a presidential decree calling on all eligible voters to take part in a public referendum on the constitutional amendments approved by the People's Assembly on 19/3/2007.

The presidential decree set the date for the referendum on Monday, March 26 starting from 8:00 a.m. till 19:00 p.m. according to the rules organizing the exercise of political rights.

Following is the text of decree:
The President of the Republic…
Having reviewed the Constitution;
Law No. 73 for 1956 on organizing the exercise of political rights and amended the laws thereof; and The People's Assembly approval in its session held on March 19, 2007 on the amendment of the constitution, Decides:
Article One Eligible listed voters are called upon, in application to rules of the aforementioned Law No. 73 for 1956, to cast their votes in balloting sub-committees to express their opinions in the referendum on the amendment of Articles 1, 4 and 5 (adding third paragraph), 12 (first paragraph), 24, 30, 33, 37 and 56 (second paragraph), 59, 62, 72, 73, 74 and 76 (third and fourth paragraphs), 78 (adding second paragraph), 82 and 84 (first paragraph), 85 (second paragraph), 88, 94, 115 and 118 (first paragraph), 127, 133 and 136 (first and second paragraphs), 138 (adding second paragraph), 141 and 161 (adding second paragraph), 173 and the title of the sixth chapter, 179 and 180 (first paragraph), 194, 195 and 205 of Constitution of the Republic of Egypt.

ArticleTwo:
The vote will be held on Monday, March 26, 2007 starting at 8:00 a.m. to 19:00 p.m. in accordance with the law of organizing the exercise of political rights.

Article Three:
Minister of Interior shall implement this decree.

Article Four:
This decree shall be published in the official gazette.
