The People's Assembly approved yesterday 18/03/2007 many articles on citizenship, the economic system, prohibition of the establishment of religious parties and practicing political activity on religious guidelines.

Members of the People's Assembly described walkout by some members as a setback to democracy and hailed the opposition members who took part in debates. The members described the first article on citizenships a new development of the Egyptian democracy.

On the Fourth Article of the Constitution, the members said the new world economic order imposed itself on the economic situation, saying this article gives the majority the chance to select the economic system which suits every stage.

On the Fifth Article, the members stressed the importance of prohibiting the establishment of parties on religious grounds. They said the setting up of a religious party would spoil political life and differentiate between the sons of the one homeland.
