The final formulation of the constitutional amendments will be referred to the Shura Council Wednesday 7/3/2007

The sub-committee of the People's Assembly(PA) started on Saturday to formulate the constitutional amendments to 34 articles. The committee held three closed-door meetings yesterday, chaired by the People's Assembly Speaker Ahmed Fathi Sorour.

The Formulation of 32 articles were agreed upon, but the members didn't agree on the form of Article 88 concerning ratifying the ideal electoral system, preparing neutral and independent supervision and the election to be held in one day. They didn't agree also on Article 179 concerning combating terrorism .

The committee will hold another meeting today morning to reach final formulation of these two articles to be reviewed by the Legislative Committee today evening.

The formulation of the articles will be tackled in 5 sessions, ending Tuesday evening to be referred to the Shura Council. The formulation will be referred to the People's Assembly(PA) to take the final agreement on it in the general session of the PA.

The Committee includes Dr. Amal Ossman head of the Legislative Committee Office and the members Ebrahim el-Gohari, Omar el-Taher , Omar Haredi in addition to Dr. Abd el-Ahad Gamal el-Deen, Dr. Mahmoud Abaza , Kamal Ahmed and the advisor Muhammad Dakrory and Dr. Ramzy el-Shaer.
