Muslim Brotherhood MP rejects establishing faith-based parties

Member of Parliament for the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood Fagr Hussein Ibrahim said on Thursday that he rejects the establishment of faith-based political parties in Egypt.

Addressing a meeting of the parliamentary Legislative Committee, Ibrahim said Islam did not recognize the theocratic state, but it rather acknowledged the state of law.

At the meeting, the participants called for a public referendum on the proposed constitutional amendments.
