NCW holds annual congress on March 13 to discuss constitutional amendments

Mrs Suzanne Mubarak headed Thursday the 21st meeting of the National Council of Women (NCW) to set the stage for the annual convention due on March 13-15.

This year's congress is held under the title of "Women...Constitutional Amendments and Equality."

NCW Secretary General Furkhunda Hassan said the convention will focus on the proposed constitutional amendments.

"The council would endorse the congress's vision on the proposed constitutional amendments on March 17," she said.

"The council will study the amendments thoroughly as women make up half of the Egyptian population," she added.

On Thursday's meeting, Hassan said the gathering did not only discuss Article 62 of Constitution, because it covers women and their rights, but also tackled the entire 34 articles up to be amended.
