El-Sherif: Agreement over pluralism, citizenship
Secretary General of the National Democratic Party (NDP) Safwat el-Sherif confirmed that there is an obvious agreement over the principle of citizenship and that the political system should be based on pluralism. This is plus banning any partisan or political activity on a religious basis. El-Sherif added that the annulment of the society- related articles from the Constitution should not affect the social justice.
El-Sherif also noted the importance of the judicial supervision over the elections and that the committee supervising the elections should have its immunity and independence. He also confirmed that Article II of the Constitution related to Islamic law as a principal source of legislation is not on the agenda of the amendments.
On the other hand, Gamal Mubarak, Assistant Secretary General of the NDP and Secretary of the Policies Secretariat, said a plan is being prepared to attract more investments to Upper Egypt via presenting new incentives package to the investors in this area.
