Unanimity that amendements aim to Egypt 's freedom &democracy
"The constitutional amendments constitute a
turning point in the history of Egypt,"said Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif in statements he gave to reporters after casting his ballot in the referendum on the amendments at the polling station in al-Sabeaa School for Girls in the 6th of October City.
He stressed the importance of the people's participation in the referendum saying that they would be exercising their democratic right under the law and the Constitution.
For his part ,People's Assembly Speaker Ahmed Fathi Srour cast his vote in the referendum on constitutional amendments at the polling station in Ibrahimiya School in Cairo's Al-Sayeda Zeinab district Monday26/3/2007.
In press statements after giving his vote, he said he is participating in this democratic process as any other ordinary citizen who understands the importance of fulfilling his duty and sharing in decision-making.
He said boycotting the referendum is an undemocratic act. "The ABC of practicing democracy is sharing and making a contribution through expressing one's opinion," he said.
He said the good turnout of voters at polling stations mirrors support to the constitutional amendments.
After casting his ballot, Srour visited the polling stations in Al-Kedawaya and Mohamed Ali schools to follow up the voting process.
