Balloting on the future

Tomorrow, Egyptians will say their word about constitutional amendments, and it will be a start for a new epoch of rooted democracy and constitutional-supported citizenship.

With no metaphoric words, tomorrow's referendum is not a choice to accept or reject some of the constitution's articles. Fundamentally, it is a referendum on the future, a choice for Egypt's move towards better tomorrow, a determination to our lives' features and style in Egypt in the years to come.

The first article in tomorrow's referendum speaks about the state's democratic system that is based on citizenship. This ensures a commitment to democracy, free thought and choice in the frame of multiplicity and the respect of the other opinion. It is a commitment that closes the door in front of any individual or group's attempt to slide on democracy.

It is a confirmation to the rulers and the ruled that citizenship is a support for all Egyptians, as equality among citizens in duties and rights is the basic pillar of manipul ation, regardless of religion, gender or race.

It is an affirmation that Egypt's strength lies in unity of its sons, their confrontation to terror that destabilizes homeland and citizens' security as well as bringing Egypt back to the tunnel of darkness. For all these reasons, we will go to ballot on making the future.
